Common Cold

Common Cold,  how do you deal with it?

When we feel like our bodies are fighting off a cold we do a few things.  What do you do to help your body stay health or fight off a cold or get rid of one or lessen the suffering of a cold?

At my house we do our best to get plenty of rest, good healthy diet & fresh air.  But when we get run down or come across someone who shares their germs with us we have a few good things we do.

The first is pray, we thank God for good health.   Then we address the discomforts of the cold by, plenty of water, chicken broth, rest, pain relief for aches & pains, stock up on Kleenex & warm baths or showers.  Then to help our bodies to fight we drink elderberry tea, Eucalyptus/peppermint tea, lemon/ginger tea,  elderberry lozenges, honey, spicy stuff to eat, apple cider vinegar & Vernors (cause we are from Michigan), vitamin C is increased, so is zinc.   Some rare times a little whiskey in the hot lemon tea & honey for the extreme sore throats to get relief.   We even get some air aromas going too!

We use what works for us.  Of course it works for us, if it didn't we would not use it!!   This is just what we use for the common cold.   We may not use all of it at once, all depends on how the cold wants to hit.  The kids are not a fun of the tea's.   But they drink it know, they rather drink tea than have a lasting cold.

Fall Colors

Fall colors are a time of change.  Spring & Summer are over, growth of plants stop or slow down.  Some people start to fall into seasonal depression.  Some get ready for the winter fun times.  What do you do in the fall?   Do you go on color tours with family & friends?  Hit the cider mill?  Confirm your Holiday plans with family, friends or your job?  Get your household & cars are for winter? Do you doing nothing different?  Do you live in the north & head south, run from the snow & cold?  Make plans for next Summer?

How do you handle change?  Sometimes we need help handling different changes in life.  Some of us can jump from one to the other with ease.  But there is some who it takes time & can not be rushed. It's all ok.  Each person is created different.  The ones who can jump into to change with no problem, must not rush those who need time.

Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking is a very heavy topic to talk about.  Some may not want to talk about it & some even deny it is happening around where they live.  Sad to say it is all around us.  Yes, even in the United States, it's just not another country far way or what horror films are made of.

My family & church family have been praying & trying to bring this darkness into light.  I'll be sharing a lot of links to information either about it or where you can go for help if you are in it or know someone who is involved it will be later in this blog post.

There is hope in this dark problem.  There is help.  We all can make a difference.   It's not just about the victims who are locked into this.  But the people who hold the victims prisoners & the people who buy the victims.  We can pray for them all.  There is help for them all.   I know it is hard to not want death to those who imprison the victims & for those who buy the victims.  I'm not saying they get off Scott Free.   But I'm saying let's get to the root of the problem.

Getting to the root of the problem will help end this.  How do we view life & lives?!  How do we value each other?  It's just a start.

Here's a link to Focus on the Family. They have some bible verses that talk about human trafficking.

Here are the links on Human Trafficking, some are info on it & some are help links.

Thanksgiving

This post is short one, but it gives lots to think about.

Thanksgiving is not celebrate around the world.  That was news to the kids.  With the info why, they got it.  It is an American "holiday".   It started them to think deeper on what would be different if the events of separation  from Great Britain did not happen.

Freedom of religion would not be for starters & the Fourth of July would not even be on the calendar.   Thanksgiving dinner not happening either.  So how would your life be different?  What impact would it have on your life?   Does it make your list to be thankful for even longer?  Did ours.    Yes, we are grateful for all that we have & all who are in our lives.  But the stuff like freedom of religion, freedom from a lot of things & the rights we have as a free country, you can't touch the gratitude we have for it all.
